deerlyBeloved: GotTrouble?

"Oh no! I broke a plate!"

But she certainly won't break your heart. If fine tea and unbroken dishware is what you're looking for, then turn back because you ain't getting that here. What you will get is a fine friend and loyal companion who will walk through the shadow of death for the sake of her pals, and who won't turn back until she's certain she's found a smile. There isn't much more you can ask her to do. She's completely trained like a ninja and will give her all to protect her people, be they friends, family, or something more.

CRAU History and Impact:
Personality: Although she hails from the frosty climes where the Ice Tribes from the northern edge of the Kingdom of Nohr dwell, Felicia is anything but frosty in demeanor. The warmth of her smile and her innate optimism stands out in sharp contrast to her more reserved twin sister, Flora, and no one would ever guess after a single encounter with this clumsy young maid that she is technically a hostage of the Nohrian military. Both Felicia and Flora are the daughters of Kilma, the chieftan of the Ice Tribes, and they were abducted when they were young as a means of quelling possible rebellion from their homelands. Although it's clear that Flora still holds a deep loyalty to her bretheren and a need for justice against King Garon, Felicia is-- thankfully-- oblivious to the grander political schemes that happen around her.

In keeping with the themes of loyalty to family by blood or by choice that are present within this game, Felicia stands as one of the two figures who choose to side with the people she cares about and loves, regardless of whether or not they need to fight against their homelands and even siblings in the grander scheme of the overarching plot. While Felicia, in her moments where she seems to be fairly observant, clearly cares for her sister and her family in the Ice Tribes, she can't bring herself to hurt Corrin-- one of the few people in her life who has supported her regardless of her personal flaws. In fact, despite her capabilities as a soldier on the battlefield, she would much rather not fight with anyone if she can avoid it. She states repeatedly, to Corrin and other characters, that there are more than enough people who can fight in their rag-tag little army-- what they need is more people who can clean and cook, which is what Felicia strives to be like for the sake of the army.

Unfortunately, her clumsiness is so severe that she isn't able to carry a tray of tea across a room without spilling it at some point. The sounds of plates breaking, glasses shattering, and cries of alarm as scalding tea is accidentally dumped onto some poor soul are common when Felicia is around, much to her own chagrin. Although she is a dedicated and eager worker, her lack of confidence in her own abilities consistently gets in the way of her being the graceful and elegant maid that she wishes to be. Her sister Flora is her role model in this regard, as is the butler, Jakob, who also chooses to follow Corrin regardless of the path they take in the game. Indications that she is anything less than worthy of being a maid in Corrin's service because of her clumsiness are the one thing that will earn a temperamental and feisty reaction from the normally bubbly young woman, and she will refuse to accept those arguments or anything less than an apology from the other party on this matter. Both royalty and her equals are treated the same in this regard. Long time allies and strangers, similarly, are also treated the same.

However, the problem that Felicia faces in this regard is the fact that she is a far better fighter in the field than she is a maid. Thanks to the firm and kind hand of the old soldier Gunter, who guarded Corrin and the castle where they all resided, Felicia became a competent fighter to such a degree that Flora is jealous of her skill, and the Hoshidan ninja Saizo repeatedly tries to convince Felicia to become his apprentice until she explains to him the exact reasons why she can't accept such an offer, and why she still innocently believes that she will be able to excel in her service regardless of her lack of skill. It's also noted that her father, Kilma-- the chief of the Ice Tribe-- favored Felicia over her twin sister Flora in combat training in their youth... and that Flora was jealous of her sister for being the center of their father's attention.

Felicia's innocence and desire to help others is both a strength and a flaw for her. It's a strength because it allows her to surmount the odds and firmly believe that everything will turn out all right in the end, but it works against her because she can easily be blinded to what's happening around her. As such, she will jump into dangerous situations without forethought of the consequences. This is how Flora and their father, Kilma, were able to keep her in the dark about their political positions for so many years, and why she put herself at great risk to rescue Corrin from a deadly fever when they were children. Helping others is the same as helping herself, in her opinion-- she feels useless if she's not able to help the people who have helped her. And, even though she is observant enough to notice Prince Xander hiding as he watched her practice her duties as a maid in secret, she simply chooses to see the best everything and everyone.

During the times when she can't lie to herself about what's happening around her, Felicia does break down into tears. But, she also recovers from those tears quickly and rises above the call of duty to stand next to the people she cares for regardless of the trials that may come. Her loyalty and dedication serves as the source of her strength and, even though she trips and cries her way through the battlefield every step of the way, her strength never once wavers. She is an excellent retainer because of this, regardless of her skills as either a combatant or a maid.

As I am reusing Felicia's app from 2018 with slight modifications for clarity, I would like to note that Felicia will not necessarily remember her previous time in Deerington. She was only in game for a handful of months, and all of her major CR from that time is no longer present. If she remembers anything, it will be in the form of vague deja vu moments and nothing with any actual clarity unless the same character and player that she had CR with before gives permission for anything with more detail.

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping: Besides her domestic skills (or lack thereof), the most notable 'power' of Felicia's is her affinity with ice. While she's not capable of feats like calling spears of ice to rain from the sky, her association with the element is enough to cause the ambient temperature surrounding her to drop to freezing levels when she is angered or in a panic-- to the point where it prompts Saizo to try recruiting her as an apprentice ninja over the course of their Support conversations, much to her own dismay. This particular skill has been displayed in comical situations as well, such as in a 4-Koma omake where Felicia uses this affinity to 'save' Corrin from scalding hot tea (that Felicia made herself), only to have it turn frozen solid. Additionally, she's capable of utilizing the Ice Tribe's traditional technique of drawing heat unto herself on an instinctive level, as she used it to save a young Corrin from a deadly fever....only to leave herself severely ill as a consequence.

This affinity for ice also manifests as a frosted, snowy flurry around Felicia when she attacks with her knives, although this may mostly be an aesthetic effect within the game's graphic system.

In terms of warping these abilities, it's safe to assume that Felicia's healing staves will reflect the pain of the wounded on her person, and staves like Rescue (which teleports an individually targeted unit out of harm's way and into safety) will affect her rather than another player. Stat modifying staves will be inconsistent with random effects that can't be fully anticipated-- if they're not entirely ineffective.

Her ice powers could go a few different ways. This is not an ability either Felicia or her twin sister Flora are ever seen using in direct combat, and it's mostly treated as a visual aesthetic in battle or a narrative quirk in supports. It should be noted that Flora, the more experienced of the two sisters, did freeze over an entire harbor for the duration of a battle in the Revelations route, and that Felicia has the potential to do this as well if she so chooses. An important note is that these powers don't appear to be strictly ice generation, but have more in common with diverting heat either within an object or from an ambient source. the reason for this is that Felicia's sister, Flora was able to immolate herself with flames so hot that other members of the Ice Tribe were not able to quell the flame. Likewise, the Ice Tribe has a high level technique among it's people that involves removing lowering intense fevers with their refined control over temperature. This technique is noted to be dangerous, as Felicia nearly died from using it on her Lord Corrin when they were children.

As so many of her abilities (and inabilities) are linked with her relative confidence levels, it's entirely probable that her control over ice will wax and wane with her views on herself and her capabilities, or her levels of emotional distress. And, while she isn't one to consciously freeze over a harbor in ordinary circumstances, that isnt' to say that something similar can't happen on a smaller scale if she ends up emotionally out of control.
